A very dark shade of ruby

Officially, Guinness Draught is a very dark shade of ruby. I told John this - he said, "OK" sceptically. I said, "you have to hold it up to the light to see it". He said, "whenever I've held it up to light, it just looked black. Maybe if you had a really bright light, you could see it."

So, I got a pic. If you are extremely observant, you'll notice that the sun is slightly to the East. Yes, it is still morning. And yes, I am drinking a beer.

Texas, Floore's, Mexican Coca-Cola, and Tsingtao

Texas must have more jerks on the road than any other state. And the Texas Highway system seems to be designed to amplify road rage and maximize congestion - it's the same in every major city in Texas.

Other than that, my current visit to Texas hasn't been to bad. The job's going well. I found some live music at Floore's Country Store. And I got a new laptop.

The Floore's website says "Willie Nelson Every Sat. Night" But it's a blatant lie. I looked at the Calendar and he didn't play this Sat. night. He doesn't play there until Oct. 11th. But I did see a pretty good local artist. Sheila Marshal. She has a website - you can manage to find it yourself (I'm sure) if you're interested.

There's a Mexican restaurant near my job site called Tiago's Cabo Grill. I ate there for lunch today because Tiago is the name of the coke head in City of God. And Tiago was pretty cool, I thought. The restaurant was pretty cool too. The have an awesome salsa. I't very dark and very good. The other salsa they brought (they brought 2 flavors) tasted like it had banana or something in it, which makes sense since "Cabo" would imply a tropical theme. The food was pretty good and they had Mexican Coca-Cola. I inquired. It's just Coca-Cola imported from Mexico. "They use pure cane sugar." So I tried it. It was pretty good. Definitely better than domestic Coca-Cola. I've known for many years that Canadian Coca-Cola tastes much better than American Coca-Cola - I've always assumed that it's because they use a better water source, but now I think it may be a recipe thing like cane sugar. The Mexican stuff tasted similar to the Canadian, but I think the Canadian is still the best. I can't even drink American Coca-Cola any more - may as well be drinking pure corn syrup. gross.

On my first night here, I noticed a Mongolian grill called HuHot near the hotel. I like Mongolian grills and told Jonathan that we should eat there some night. We went to, but then couldn't find it again. Later I found it. Last night I went there by myself. The food was good - as is expected from a Mongolian grill. I don't know how a Mongolian grill could not have good food. And I had a Tsingtao - a Chinese beer brewed in Qingdao (which is just another spelling of Tsingtao, but on the label, they spell it one way to name the beer and the other way to name the city). It's a pretty good beer. I told Karen about it and she asked if it was a rice beer. I don't think so - it tastes like a regular grain beer. It's my beer of choice at Chinese places now.
