The Sinusoidal nature of my sanity

I think that my sanity might be plotted as a sine wave. Only it may be getting progressively worse (or better if you enjoy craziness - and I enjoy mine very much).

I picked up a hitchhiker on my way from Minnesota to Ohio. He was only going as far as Madison. I told him that I could drop him off there, but I had to go through Lacrosse on the way - Lacross is maybe 1.5 hours out of the way from where I picked him up. English is not his strong suit. When I told him I had to go through Lacross he smiled and nodded and said something that sounded like "OK". But I don't think that he understood what I was saying in the least because when I turned off of Eastbound 94 onto Westbound 90 he started getting fidgety and asked to get out right there. Oh well. I was going to offer to buy him dinner in Lacross.

Today I'll be picking up two complete strangers and driving with them from Cleveland to Philadelphia. I hope I don't freak them out too much. I was cleaning out my car for the trip and thought that the sight of my climbing rope in the trunk might give them the wrong impression - so I left it out.
